Welcome to Wild Salmon Inc.
Alaska's Copper River is home to some of the finest coho, king, and sockeye salmon in the world. This river is fed by hundreds of clean, natural tributaries and flows into the Gulf of Alaska near the small, rural fishing community of Cordova. Accessible only by boat or plane, Cordova is approximately 145 miles southeast of Anchorage.
The 700,000 acre Copper River Delta and the flats lying at the river's mouth are a beautiful and productive ecosystem. One of the only intact watersheds of its size in the world, the Copper River is fed by thousands of glaciers and surrounded by miles of unindustrialized valleys and mountains. It is here the wild salmon begin their incredible 300-mile journey to the place of their birth. Nature has prepared them for this journey by providing an extra layer of nutrient-rich fat full of heart healthy Omega 3s.
This fat layer provides the extraordinary full-bodied flavor, color, and richness of Copper River salmon.
Since salmon play such a vital role in the life of both human and wild inhabitants, the Alaska constitution mandates that all Alaska fisheries be sustainably managed so salmon remain a healthy and renewable resource available to all user groups: wildlife, sport, subsistence, and commercial. Management of the Copper River is exceptional. Fishing time and allowable harvest is determined using historical data, catch ratios, aerial surveys, and actual hand and sonar counts of the salmon as they swim upstream.
Copper River salmon are harvested when the fish are bright and firm, and at an optimum fat content. Harvested by family fisherman; U.S. small business owners who fish for their livelihood, Copper River salmon is some of the best tasting salmon available on the market today. To enhance this world class resource, all of the salmon are carefully and gently sorted by hand, bled, iced and chilled.
Copper River fisherman are pleased and privileged to bring you delicious quality salmon that is a healthy, 100% natural, quality meal choice that is traceable, sustainable and easy to prepare.
